What Happens When a Crewmate Goes Down

Importantly, a downed crewmate can still be affected by hazards. If your ship sinks while a player is downed, they are also out. In solo play, going down means the run ends immediately.

How to Revive with a Golden Fish

When you have a Golden Fish in your inventory, approach the downed crewmate and interact with them. The game will consume one Golden Fish and revive the crewmate to full health. They can immediately resume their role.

The interaction is automatic once you have the item — there is no minigame or additional requirement. Approach and interact.

How to Obtain a Golden Fish

Golden Fish cannot be bought, found as fixed world loot, or obtained through any method except fishing. They appear randomly as an uncommon catch. When a Golden Fish bites your line, you will know immediately — the catch animation and visual are distinct from regular fish.

The drop rate is low. Based on player reports and gameplay observation, you might catch one Golden Fish every 10–20 fishing sessions on average, though this is not officially confirmed and may vary. The key implication is that you cannot rely on having a Golden Fish available when you need one.

Golden Fish in Solo Play
